This phrase is part of a Tori Amos lyrics and I can't find it it any dictionary. Could you explain it please?
The context:
muhammad my friend
it's time to tell the world
we both know it was a girl back in bethlehem
and on that fateful day
when she was crucified
she wore SHISEIDO RED and we drank tea
by her sideWhat does ';Shiseido Red'; mean?
Shiseido once put out a product known as ';Red Water'; which is a very bright orange-red color. You can see an example of it in the link below.
It is interesting how Tori juxtaposes a reference to crucifixion against references to very ';civilized'; and secular phenomenon such as the selection of fashion and the drinking of tea. I see her use of religious names and references from various faiths (Muhammed, Moses, Bethlehem) as a reiteration of this interesting dichotomy between the metaphysical and the mundane. This struggle between civility and spirituality is something that Tori touches on frequently, and it is details such as ';Shiseido red'; that brung the more worldly and mundane aspects to life.
There is a band called ';Shiseido Red'; that takes its name from Tori's song ';Muhammed My Friend,'; as shown above.
There is no connection between the song and the armed forces. The Armed Forces network does use another of Tori's songs, Mother, in a commercial, however. (See 2nd link below). What does ';Shiseido Red'; mean?
Milky moo gave you the cosmetics company.--it also is mentioned in relation to the armed forces--www.thedent.com
Im assuming it has something to do with the cosmetic brand shiseido. Red could probably be a perfume/cosmetic.
There's a cosmetic company/brand named Shiseido.
I am pretty sure it means the make-up company Shiseido. They have a lipstick called Shiseido Red.
So she was wearing red lipstick. :)
